Birthday Tin

I decided to try some of those cute lunch tins. The project is a little "trying"! I had a hard time keeping the ribbon on. I looked up and read a lot of different directions for making these, and one person used glue dots to keep the ribbon on. DON'T try that, the ribbon kept popping off. I am still not sure how to attach it. I modge podged the tin after I had the paper on, but wasn't sure if I should modge podge the ribbon. Anyone out there that has tried this, please comment and let me know. For this tin, I just found some primary color pattern paper. I used the Cricut to cut "birthday". After I had everything on, then I brushed on a layer of modge podge. I made some file cards for the inside with each month across the top and lines to list birthdays for that month.

Cute tin! I have really good luck adhering glue to tin using a thin layer of Alleen's Tacky Glue (my old standby!) It takes a bit longer to dry, but works well on metal!

Hi - I just found your blog while browsing the SCS gallery. Your tin is REALLY cute! The only thing I've had luck with as far as attaching the ribbon is using red-line tape - AKA Terrifically Tacky Tape. I've not had any problems with it coming off. I think the mod podge messes up the ribbon and it's not as pretty anymore, so I wouldn't suggest doing it on the ribbon. Hope that helps!

One more thing...if you are interested...I have a template for cutting around the handle and latch. It's for the provocraft tin. If you want it send me an e-mail and I'll e-mail it to you. I couldn't find your email add on your blog anywhere.

Love your paper and color selection - this is so cute. I have used the red-line tape and Making Memories ribbon glue - just because I happened to have them and both worked really well for attaching the ribbon. I wouldn't MP the ribbon either.
