Blizzard 2011

Here in Michigan, we are in a blizzard! Everything is closed today, so it looks like a good day to create. I am tucked away in my nice, cozy studio. I have spent the last two weekends cleaning and organizing from all the holiday mess, so I am ready to get into some creating. This is not a new card (I made this for December) but it seems like a good card for today's blizzard). I love it that this card says "Peace", because right now it is very quiet and peaceful and the snow is still coming down. This stamp is from a retired set from Stampin' Up. The background was made using "Frost" and "Moonlight" Glimmer Mist. I then ran the cardstock through my bigshot using the snowflake embossing folder. I added chunky white glitter (from Stampin' Up) on the snowflake. The silver embellishment is from Joelee's. I used some of my wrinkled ribbon and a piece of silver shimmer yarn. Just Chillin"

As we finish up a cold and snowy January here in Michigan, I realized I never posted this card, actually, they all sold before I remembered to take a picture. I did, however, post the same penguin on a hand sanitizer gift I made during the holidays. I used this cute penguin in several projects this year (mini photo albums, hand sanitizer gift, cards...), apparently, penguins are quite popular. In case you missed my first post back in December, I used the Cricut cartridge "Create a Critter". Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the pattern paper I used (it was something I had in my stash!). I have been creating lately, so I will have some more samples to show from this cartridge. Warm Thoughts

This was actually a card at my fall workshops (that I never posted). With the cold Michigan weather, I thought this card was perfect for this time of year. I use the set "Like it a Latte" (retired Stampin' Up). The pattern paper is from Hobby Lobby. Satin red ribbon is Stampin' Up. The oval and oval scallop punches are from Marvy. The foam in the cup is foam paint (dimensional paint) with glitter sprinkled on.

Scenery Card

Here is the card I sent out for a card swap. All materials are Stampin' Up. I brayered Daffodil Delight over all the card (it is masked off for the sun) and then brayered Rose Red and Bravo Burgundy for sky and Soft Suede for the mountains. The stamp set was Inspired by Nature. The birds are hand drawn. I found this idea on a Stampin' Up demonstrator blog. Hope everyone likes it!

Things I Love Mini Album

This is one of my first mini albums I created. I hope to make more. I have been wanting to do this for a while, the thing is, I am wondering why! I don't really have any need for these, they just looked like fun to make and I love seeing all the ideas online of mini albums. I saw this type of album a couple months ago (I thought on Stampin' Connection through Stampin' Up, but when I went back to find it, I couldn't). There are quite a few tutorial videos on YouTube on mini albums though. This one is a toilet paper roll mini album. (I thought that sounded a little weird and not sure if that is what I would want to call it.) I have seen these made several different ways. Some were covered with paper and others were painted. I used paint for this one, but not sure if I like the cover because you can see the line going down it and it looks too much like a toilet paper roll! Oh well, here are some of the things I used to make this album. I love the little pockets and all the pull out tags and now that I have my fun little photo printer and can print small photos, these might be fun. Tell me what you think!

Canon Selphy

Look at this tiny photo printer! This will be perfect for taking on my scrapbook weekends. I saw a video tutorial on Scraptime about this little photo printer. She did such a good job explaining all the qualities of the printer, that I bought one! I found it on Amazon.com (59.99 for the printer and 29.95 for the 4x6 paper and color ink to print 108 photos). Merry Christmas to me! I wouldn't say it is a good printer for printing large quantities of photos, but I bought it for other reasons. I like the variety of printing options this printer offers. I like the fact that I can print photos smaller than 4x6. (I am always chopping my photos down for scrapbooking, plus I wanted to do more with mini scrapbooks and smaller photos would work well for these). I also liked the fact that the Canon Selphy offers the choice of printing in color, black and white or sepia. And I also like the fact that I can bring it with me to my scrapbook weekends. You can see in the picture how compact it is. It will print with or without my computer. It does come with software for your computer and that offers more options for printing. You can add graphics, words, frames or calendars with the software. In a matter of minutes I made this calendar for J. yesterday. Nothing fancy because he will be taking it to work and it will be hanging in the factory. But it was very quick and easy. I used my bind-it-all to bind it together. I think there will be tons of options with this printer. I love it already. I will be working on some more projects.

Just Chillin'

I made these hand sanitizer packages for my craft shows. These also made nice gifts for my friends at work. I used my Cricut to make the cute little penguins and the words using the cartridge "Create a Critter". The small hand sanitizer bottles are from Bath and Body.
